This is the Xara Editor window which appears when you open a document or template. Here's an overview of the editor:

Let's break down all the components that make up the editor, going anti-clockwise from Page Operations.

Page operations
Click the 3 dots to display the page operations menu for the current page. Here you can add, cut, copy, paste, duplicate and delete the page.

Add Components
Ranged down the left hand side of your document are all the components you might want to add to your document: text, diagrams, tables, shapes, images and icons. You can also add assets from your own team folder, upload from your computer / cloud drive or add a Vizzlo chart. Click any of the icons to display all the options for that component.

Page Overview
This panel to the left of your document displays a thumbnail picture of all your pages. Click on a page to jump the view to that page. Drag the handle in the middle of the panel to collapse or open it.

Document Workspace / Page
This is the main working area for the document you are editing.

Properties Panel
The Properties Panel is context sensitive, so for example it will display text properties when you are editing text and image properties when you are editing images.

In this screenshot it is showing Document Properties where you can set options that affect your whole document, such as the language for the spell checker, styles and colors (this panel can also be accessed by going to File > Document Properties).

Top Bar Overview

The top bar also contains some important controls, let's break this down:

Home Button
This will return you to the File Picker.

File button
This will show you all the basic file operations for your document, such as Open, Make a copy, Download, Print, Find, Make a Copy and Properties.

Undo and Redo
You can also press Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Y to undo and redo.

Filename and Status Bar
This will show you the file name of the document you have open, and the status, or progress bar, of any operation you have done (such as download or export, etc...)

Account and collaborators
Click on your avatar to bring up your account settings. If there are multiple users working on the same document, you will see their avatar next to yours with the initials of their name. Click here for more information on collaboration.

Add Comment

Click to add a comment to the document that your collaborators can read and reply to. Click here for more information on our powerful commenting feature.

Share
Click this to bring up the share options, whether that's sharing a document with another member of your team for editing, or a read-only share with the public. Click here for more information on sharing.
