This is easy, but you need to make sure that your FTP publishing details are saved within the website project file and that the website has actually been previously published at least once from a Xara Desktop product.

You can only save the FTP publishing details to the website project file from within the Xara Desktop product. The publish settings as they appear in either of these two - check the Web Properties Dialog publish details. Not sure how to find these? Press F1 and search the Help pages for Website Publishing.

The Publish tab looks like this. You need to make sure the Save Publish settings in document box is checked... (learn more here)

To open your website project file,

  1. Make sure that the project file is saved to a cloud storage provider.

  2. Connect that storage provider within Xara Cloud so you can access the file.

Make sure it’s the same cloud drive that you have linked to your Xara Cloud account. Now you can open the file from the cloud in Xara and work on it. How to connect a cloud storage drive in Xara Cloud.

Tip: When using both Xara Desktop and Xara Cloud products together, leveraging cloud storage like Dropbox as your document repository helps ensure that you (and collaborators) are always working from the most current and up-to-date version of your document!

When you want to republish - tap the Share button, then Re-publish…

Then enter the Password - that’s the FTP Password, click Publish and the updated site will be published. You will only have to enter the password once per session.

Note: Xara can't reset your FTP hosting details so you will need to contact your 3rd party hosting provider for this or if you use Xara/Magix Hosting, then please contact our resell partner Magix (who managed domains and hosting) for assistance. You can contact them here.

Pro tip: Use the various object locking features to control what and how various users can edit a website. Learn more about Object Locking.

Pro tip: Annotate your docs and get feedback from others using the Comments feature in Xara Cloud.
